After the political crisis that came up following the disputes between the ruling parties, the voters will penalize all the politicians in the future general elections, expert Ion Jigau, who heads the Center for Sociological Investigations and Marketing “CBS-AXA”, said in the public debate “Culture of the political crisis: realities, necessities and norms”, staged by IPN.

”The voters expect that the authorities will do their duty. In fact, no government in Moldova has done its duty appropriately so far. Our researches show that the corruption index didn’t change much. All our governments were and are corrupt, according to the population. The people do not like that the political leaders cannot reach a compromise,” said Ion Jigau.

He also said that the Moldovans vote sentimentally more. “After the elections of 2009 and 2010, I started to think that the people began to vote rationally. But, the latest studies show that even if many people want new political forces to appear, they do not vote for unknown parties and persons,” said Ion Jigau.

The expert stated that the politicians now use mechanisms for manipulating the voters. “I think these manipulations have short-term effects. The ordinary people are not fools. They often do not take into account matters discussed by the politicians. They are concerned about such ordinary things as having what to eat, what to wear and medical services of a high quality. They judge by facts. The events that take place at the upper level reach society in several days. I’m afraid that the voters will penalize all the politicians,” said Ion Jigau.

The debate “Culture of the political crisis: realities, necessities and norms” forms part of the series of public debates organized by IPN News Agency within the project “Development of political culture by public debates”, which is supported by Hanns Seidel Foundation.
