The voter turnout in 820 out of 898 localities passed 25%. In these localities, the elections can be declared valid, CEC chairwoman Angela Caraman stated in a press briefing, being quoted by IPN.
In the constituencies in which the voter turnout will be of over ¼ of the voting-eligible population, the CEC during two weeks will take a decision as to the runoff vote.
By 3 p.m., over 820,000 citizens eligible to vote cast their ballots. The women voted more actively, constituting over 54% of those who voted. Most of the voters were aged between 56 and 74. According to Angela Caraman, voting in general takes place in normal conditions.
The voter turnout in Pocrovca village of Dondușeni district remained the highest, of 67%. Over 26% of the eligible voters cast their ballots in the municipality of Chisinau, with the voters of Râșcani district being the most active ones here. The turnout in the suburban settlements was of 28%. The voters in Vadul lui Vodă were the most active ones with a turnout of 36%, while the voters in Durlești were the least active ones with a turnout of 24%.
The election threshold was passed in Balti and also in Comrat, where over 32% of the eligible voters turned out for election.
Among the reported violations, 42 were cases of political campaigning, 29 were cases of organized transportation of voters, four were cases of placing of electoral advertisements in unauthorized places, seven were cases of reasonable suspicion of voter corruption, 12 were cases of photographing of ballots. In Chirsova village of the ATU Gagauzia, legal action was taken over the hampering of the exercise of the right to vote.
