The "Heart of Moldova" Party, led by Irina Vlah, does not give up the idea of organizing a referendum on the neutrality of the Republic of Moldova. Vlah sent a letter to the diplomatic corps in Chisinau, noting that she will resort to all legal possibilities at her disposal, IPN reports.

"The goal pursued by us was that, as a result of the referendum, the will of the people should be known, namely that the citizens want the international recognition of the neutrality of the Republic of Moldova, this being a guarantee that there will be peace in our country. The result of the referendum was also to constitute a mandate given by the people to the leadership of the Republic of Moldova, in order to initiate the necessary steps at international level, in order to recognize our neutrality," reads the message addressed by Irina Vlah to the diplomatic corps.

The Central Election Commission rejected the application to register the initiative group to support the holding of the consultative national referendum, submitted by the "Heart of Moldova" Party. According to the Commission, the question proposed for the referendum goes beyond the constitutional and legal framework, violates the clear principles of formulation and, respectively, cannot be put to the citizens' vote.

The question for the plebiscite proposed by Irina Vlah is: "Do you agree that the Republic of Moldova should obtain international recognition of its neutrality in order to receive guarantees of non-involvement in armed conflicts and for non-accession to military alliances?".

According to the CEC, the initiative group formulated a question containing three mutually exclusive dimensions: international recognition of neutrality, guaranteeing of non-involvement in armed conflicts and non-accession to military alliances. This goes against the Electoral Code provisions of that prohibit contradictory questions in a referendum. This fact is supported by the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The chairwoman of the "Heart of Moldova" Party Irina Vlah said that she will challenge the CEC’s decision because she considers that it is suitable not for the people, but for the rulers.
