“During all these years, the attention devoted to health facilities, healthcare, doctors, their salaries was at the lowest level. In fact, the money directed towards developing the healthcare sector was used for unclear purposes. All these things have consequences now,” former President of Moldova Vladimir Voronin was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Secrets of the Power” on Jurnal TV channels.

As to the removal of the Government led by Ion Chicu, Vladimir Voronin said this is not a problem. The problem is who will replace this government.

“I don’t know if the removal of the government or the dismissal of those who lead this battle against the pandemic will radically change the situation. We, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, should combine forces and understand that our health depends on us. I don’t know who can come instead, but we can make the situation worse,” stated the leader of the Party of Communists.

The ex-President noted that the replacement in the current conditions of the government and of those who coordinate the anti-pandemic measures is not at all easy and such a move needs to be consulted with experts.

“If we replace them with others, these “others” from tomorrow will bear no responsibility for what we have today, for what was yesterday and for what can yet happen. I cannot say for sure that if we appoint Năstase, for example, he will do better. Broader consolations with specialists, doctors, health academicians are needed,” stated Vladimir Voronin.

Analyzing the situation on the whole, the Communist leader said the Republic of Moldova should hold snap elections. “This problem should be solved and we should have snap elections so as to elect an appropriate Parliament and an appropriate President. An expert team of people who care about this country and do not come to enrich themselves should be created. We all bear responsibility for wheat we have now in our country. They didn’t come themselves. They were elected to Parliament and to the government,” he noted.
