Russian Federation did not present any document, which could justify the decision regarding the interdiction imposed to Moldovan wines imports. This decision does not comply with international regulations ensuring production’s security. The president of Moldova, Vladimir Voronin, announced about this in a special meeting dedicated to the problem of Moldovan wines export to Russia at which participated decision-making bodies of the Government, Parliament, several ministries and state services, Ambassadors of Moldova in Russian Federation and Ukraine, according to the presidential report. Voronin stated that the actions of the Russian officials can be qualified as a violation of certain bilateral and multilateral agreements, including within the CIS, and of international trade regulations. According to the report, authorities expressed a perplexity about the fact that „Rospotrebnadzor” invoked while taking the above-mentioned decision, the presence (unconfirmed until now) of pesticides and hard metals in Moldovan wines, substances that are not used at any stage of production. At the same time, the control of quality and security of Moldovan alcoholic production entering Russian market is done by services accredited by another state organization of Russian Federation, „Rostest”, according to the standards of this country. During the meeting recovery measures were approved, including starting a dialogue based on arguments at an appropriate level implying governmental structures of both countries; international independent expertise of all samples of alcoholic goods, exported to Russia; increasing the diversification process of Moldovan markets of alcoholic products; supporting wineries, regardless the source of the investment.
