The team of reformist politicians of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) were defeated by the deficient party-based system of government, political analyst of the Jamestown Foundation and Eurasia Daily Monitor Vladimir Socor said within a phone call during the talk show “Place for dialogue” on Radio Moldova station, IPN reports.

The analyst stated that he does not put on equal positions the PLDM, on the one hand, and the PDM and PL, on the other hand. “It is a serious mistake to regard these parties as equal forces. The team of Filat and Leanca represents those reformist politicians who asserted themselves someway. Owing to the efforts made by them, the Moldovans travel visa-free in Europa. The Association Agreement with the EU was signed and ratified. A number of reforms were initiated. This cannot be said about the Democratic Party or the Liberal Party because they didn’t contribute,” stated Vladimir Socor.

He considers that the designation of Iurie Leanca for premiership is a positive result following the talks that lasted for almost two months. “Iurie Leanca is the best Prime Minister in Moldova’s history, even if the concession of the Chisinau Airport and Banca de Economii cast certain doubts on him. I think the period of government of the Leanca Cabinet was a positive one,” he stated.

Referring to a possible alliance with the PCRM, Vladimir Socor said this is not a viable and advantageous formula for Moldova. “The Party of Communists will try to extract a maximum of advantages,” he noted.

As to the recent condition to legalize the status of neutrality of Moldova by an organic law, put forward recently by the Communists, Vladimir Socor said this is juridical illiteracy. “The status of neutrality is enshrined in the Constitution and no organic law is above the fundamental law,” he stated.
