The protest staged in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau loses intensity and the blame for this is borne by the organizers – the leaders of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth”, Vladimir Socor, political analyst of the Jamestown Foundation and Eurasia Daily Monitor said over the phone during the program “Place for dialogue” on Radio Moldova, IPN reports.

“It is evident that the movement in the central square of Chisinau is deflating. The protesters are decreasing in number. The statements of the Platform’s leaders about the scale of the protest are unfounded. These leaders didn’t manage to work out a convincing political program. Some of them only want to make use of this protest movement so as to sit at the same table with those from the government. We see that there are the same leaders on the rostrum. I didn’t see famous personalities joining them. I noticed that the representatives of the embassies working in Chisinau are also unresponsive to this protest. Even if the protest is deflating, those from the Platform should think how to honorably leave the Square,” stated Socor.

The analyst expressed his skepticism about protesters’ demands regarding the early elections. “Even if this demand is satisfied and early elections are held next spring, the protest movement will not have enough time to become and assert itself as a political organization. There is no people’s confidence government and, if those from the Platform manage indeed to win a particular number of seats of MP, they will have to negotiate and to form an alliance with some of those from the current government,” said Socor.

The analyst recommended some of the leaders of the Platform “Dignity and Truth” to stop using ‘incendiary language’. “We all know that corruption is flourishing in Moldova. But, if those from the Platform form a serious and credible political organization, they must give up using such labels as criminal, thief and others,” he stated.
