Ex-candidate for Chisinau Mayor Vladimir Filat urges his voters, as well as those who did not decide yet whom to vote for, to support the candidate on behalf of the Liberal Party, Dorin Chirtoaca in the second round ballot on June 17, Info-Prim Neo reports. During a press conference, organised together with Alexandru Tanase and Oazu Nantoi, municipal councillors on behalf of the Democrat Party of Moldova (DPM), Filat called on the voters to participate in elections and to vote for Dorin Chirtoaca. Filat is confident that Chirtoaca will represent in the ballots all the democratic forces of Moldova and all those who want to remove the communist government. At the same time, he hopes that after the victory, the LP candidate will resume the dialogue with the democratic forces which supported him and will understand that he will not be able to keep the electoral promises alone, will acknowledge that it is hard to win the elections, but it is harder to keep the power. According to the cited source, the votes collected by Dorin Chirtoaca are votes for a change, and several democratic parties have brought their contribution to make it true, including the team of DPM. That is why, Filat says, the ambitions and phobias should be overcome, and a compromise must be found to unite the democratic forces, after on June 3 the voters gave a mark to the government, as well as to the political class in Moldova. “We are open to collaboration, ready to offer Chirtoaca all the accumulated experience, to share the ideas about the changes needed in Chisinau, so that the citizens could truly feel the change, to benefit from the attention and support of local public authorities”, the representative of DPM said. Referring to the future activity of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), Filat said it should not be the theatre of a single player. “If there is no anticommunist alliance within the CMC, talks about democracy will be useless”, Filat says. He said he has a dilemma at the moment – to keep his MP seat or to accept the office of municipal councillor, mentioning he will choose the position which could be more useful for the citizens. For his part, incoming local councillor Alexandru Tanase said that on June 3 the failed intention of the political parties to ally was made by the population, which voted against the Party of Communists. Wednesday is the last day parties may throw their support behind other candidates in the second round of the local elections.
