“If there are some who wait for my approval, I hope they will attentively read this interview and will start work immediately, either it is about cleanup in the customs system or the health and other systems,” the first deputy chairman of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc said in an interview for the portal “Tribuna”, when commenting on the assertions that the recent arrest of a number of judges couldn’t have been made without his approval, IPN reports.

“I give now my consent beforehand for the next such actions, even if I don’t know what these are. If some beneficial things depend on my approval, I give my consent to bringing things in the country in order. If there are some who wait for my approval, I hope they will attentively read this interview and will start work immediately, either it is about cleanup in the customs system or the health and other systems,” stated the politician.

“So as to definitively get rid of speculations, I tell you categorically that as long as I have influence through my position, I will actively exercise it by supporting reforms, including those in the justice sector, where my political support or the support of the PDM is needed. I became involved earlier too, starting with the voting in of the new Government, when, together with my coalition colleagues, I actively supported what came from the Government and the team that held negotiations with the IMF. Positive results were achieved and we will not stop here. Other complicated, but socially useful reforms will be yet launched.”

Vlad Plahotniuc appreciated the affinities and differences between the given actions taken in the current and previous periods. “Someone told me the previous days that what happens now reminds of the case of 2001-2002, when clear-out was witnessed by arresting the thieves-in-law that terrorized Moldova. The situation is rather difficult. However, now I think we do not have thieves-in-law, but sophisticated criminal groups financed with huge sums, including from outside. But there are also some similarities. Actually, if justice and other sectors are cleared out, this helps the country first of all, no matter who does it,” he stated.
