Prime Minister Vlad Filat, in a meeting of the National Committee for the Supervision of the Reform of the Ministry of the Interior, said that in spite of hindrances, the reform will be carried out. He stressed that the Ministry has been a much politicized institution and this factor must be excluded, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“When we launched the process of reforming the state institutions, we knew that we will have to cover a difficult path and will meet with resistance from inside the institutions. I’m realistic and know that there are functionaries who do not want the institution where they work to be reformed as corruption will be eliminated and young graduates with new views and mentality will have access to these institutions,” said the Premier.
Vlad Filat stated that these reforms will help the civil servants to understand that they are paid from the taxes paid by the people and their role is to help the people, not humiliate them. “I do not want to generalize. We have competent employees who do their job. I’m grateful to them because they continue to work with responsibility even if the state cannot pay them higher salaries,” he said, adding that these servants will not be affected by the reformation process. On the contrary, they will be able to work in a modernized institution, where there will be a stimulating working environment.
Attending the Committee’s meeting, EU Ambassador to Moldova Dirk Schuebel said the Moldovan authorities go in the right direction, while the reform of the Ministry of the Interior was well planed out. U.S. Ambassador in Chisinau Asif Chaudhry stressed that the reform of this Ministry represents Moldova’s European future and the Government worked out the reformation plant in transparent conditions.
