The Government of Moldova has the instruments needed to achieve all the set objectives, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said after presenting a report on the Government's first 100 workdays in a news conference on Monday, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We inherited a country hit by the economic crisis, a divided society that is isolated at foreign level, with frozen relations with the development partners. During three months, we concentrated all our efforts on measures that are normally implemented during at least a year,” Filat said, referring to decisions and amendments to laws, including the law on the state fiscal policy and the state budget law for 2010. Summing up the most important steps taken, the Premier said his first visits to Brussels and the visits paid by European officials to Chisinau resulted in the resumption of the political dialogue between Moldova and the EU. “The first round of talks on the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU will open on January 12. The negotiations on the liberalization of the visa regime will start this year. A first mission will come to Moldova in February to assess the situation. Also this year, we will open talks on a free trade regime between Moldova and the European Union,” Filat said. According to him, the results are due to the fact that deeds followed the statements made. The Deputy Prime Ministers also spoke about the future objectives of the Government. “I consider we managed to make Moldova a predictable partner and regain credibility. We expect that this year will be difficult, but also interesting in our relations with the neighbors, the EU, Russia, the U.S.,” said Deputy Premier Iurie Leanca, who is also Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. Victor Osipov, Deputy Prime Minister for reintegration matters, said the major goal in the settlement of the Transnistrian dispute will be to earn Transnistrian residents' trust. “We knew what we have to do from the very first workday and it is important that we have a functional team,” said Deputy Premier and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar. Deputy Prime Minister on social problems Ion Negrei spoke about the improvement of the situation in the health sector and about the integration of Moldova's national values into the European system of values by depoliticizing such sectors as science and education. Among the priorities for 2010, Vlad Filat mentioned the overcoming of the economic crisis, development of an attractive and competitive economy, modernization of the education system, etc. The Filat Government was invested on September 25, 2009 by the vote of the ruling Alliance for European Integration.
