Vitalie Izbas and Vlada Ginga have won the international badminton tournament Winter Cup that was held in Chisinau. The competition brought together about 100 athletes from Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova, IPN reports.
Izbas and Ginga also won in the doubles, alongside Vladimir Leadovschi and Ana Chernetskaya. In mixed doubles, the first position was taken by the pair Vladimir Leadavschi - Ana Chernetskaya. The winners and awardees in League B, League C and the age brackets plus 55 and plus 65 also became known.
“The Moldovan athletes had more accessible opponents in this competition. Owing to the unstable situation in the country, the teams from Russia, Turkey, Slovenia and Poland decided not to come to Chisinau even if these countries were regularly represented at this tournament the previous years,” the president of the Moldovan Badminton Federation Marian Stan has told IPN.
