All the parties that claim to be of the center-right, either Europeanist or unionist, should hold negotiations to combine forces or to coordinate actions so that the left does not come to power in 2018, the leader of the National Liberal Party Vitalia Pavlichenco stated in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.

“We want a political bloc before the elections of 2018, an electoral bloc in elections and a large unionist party that would be a historical continuation. In this regard, we opened talks with some of the entities and have discussions with the European Civic Movement. We believe that in the context of the current mixed electoral system that was already firmly decided by the Constitutional Court judgment, all the parties that claim to be of the center-right, either Europeanist or unionists, should sit at the negotiating table to join forces or to coordinate actions so that the left does not come to power in 2018,” said the politician.

As to the talks held by the National Liberal Party and the Liberal Party, Vitalia Pavlichenco said she hopes these will continue and the two parties will reach an agreement.

Analyst Corneliu Ciurea considers the process of combining forces should lead to the merger of the unionist parties. There are three more important leaders who promote unionism in one form or another: Mihai Ghimpu, Vitalia Pavlichenco and Traian Basescu. “A negotiation process between these three parties supported massively by the youth organizations and other movements can lead to this union that is absolutely necessary for the unionists, and not only for them, so that the Moldovan, unionist, pro-European party obtains the expected results and holds a majority of seats in Parliament,” he stated.

According to the analyst, for a pro-European parliamentary majority to be formed easier, a unionist party is needed in Parliament because there is now an incompatibility between the Democratic Party and the Party “Action and Solidarity” and the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” and a third party is thus needed.
