Vitalia Pavliceco, the candidate for Chisinau mayor on behalf of the National Liberal Party (PNL) regrets that the citizens gave their votes for the communists, explaining this phenomenon by an unfair and tainted by fraud campaign. She also regrets the massive orientation towards the young candidate Dorin Chirtoaca, of the Liberal Party, whom she considers to be recruited by the People’s Christian-Democrat Party and consequently by the communists. Pavlicenco told Info-Prim Neo that the second round of elections might be as well won by the communists. The cited source said that the Liberal Party has lately fallen into PPCD hands, which was clearly proved during the election campaign, including by Chirtoaca’s attacks against PNL and the lack of any criticism against the PPCD. “The vote for the LP is a protest vote, but LP could easily ally itself with the PPCD and the communists. I fear that as a result the democratic governance will be discredited”, said Pavlicenco. The “non-anticommunist” message of the LP candidate will make difficult for Chirtoaca to win the second round. Pavlicenco believes that the voters will attend the June 17 polls, and the well-known methods of “seduction” of the electorate will ensure the victory of the communist party. Referring to the modest results of LNP in the local elections in the capital city, Vitalia Pavlicenco, said she is full of regret but nevertheless it is not a bad result, considering that LNP was officially registered as a party only on February 3, 2007. “We have enough forces to move on, to summon our efforts and come up in the 2009 parliamentary elections with a compact political party”, said Pavlicenco, concluding that the June 3 local elections were neither fair nor democratic.
