The Shor Party’s candidate for President Violeta Ivanov promises pensions of 5,000 lei, free tickets to sanatorium and lower prices of foods products and medicines. In a press briefing, the candidate said the strengthening of social assistance, especially for pensioners, is one of the pillars of her electoral program “Moldova 2024”, IPN reports.

Violeta Ivanov said her electoral program envisions the building of state-owned factories and plants, supporting of high-value agriculture, strengthening of the role of the state from economic and financial viewpoints, but with the institution of state monopoly on the import and sale of alcohol and tobacco products. This way the state will have sufficient resources to cover the social costs.

She suggests that the pensions should be indexed depending on the real inflation rate and all the pensioners should be offered monthly subsidies of 1,000 lei for food. The state should open in localities social stores where the prices for pensioners will be by 50% lower than in other shops, while the prices of medicines at social drugstores should be accessible to the elderly.

The candidate noted she will insist that the state should finance sanatorium treatment once a year for each pensioner and should provide individual assistance to each solitary person. The state should set up social service homes for the elderly people. The pensioners’ access to cultural institutions should be free, while at cinemas with discounts.

Violeta Ivanov said she is determined to implement these measures during four years if she is elected President, but didn’t specify how and with what financial resources. She also didn’t say what her personal effort will be given the President’s duties in accordance with the Constitution.
