The new draft national security strategy cannot be approved in the current variant because it is outdated, vice director of the Institute of Legal and Political Research of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova Victor Juc said in the program “Place for dialogue” on the public station Radio Moldova, IPN reports.
“The people became very dynamic, while the geopolitical situation changed a lot in the recent past. Thus, a number of provisions of the new national security strategy are outdated. A long-term strategy was worked out, but in the current conditions we need short-term strategies. We could learn from the experience of the U.S., where the security conception is changed at an interval of two years,” explained the scientist.
Victor Juc noted that there are provisions that can be kept. “In general, conceptually the document is good, especially as regards the imperatives. There are six imperatives related to the rule of law, economic security, energy security, etc. We should not prolong this strategy. The draft national security strategy was accepted by the Supreme Security Council and is to be endorsed by the Cabinet and then examined by Parliament. I hope these shortcomings will be liquidated,” he stated.
