Victor Chironda, the candidate of "New Force"  Social-Political Movement for the position of general mayor of Chisinau municipality, promises the development of a high quality and efficient public transport network and another one of accessible and comfortable sidewalks. During a press conference at IPN, the candidate stated that the inhabitants of the capital waste over two hours daily for traveling through the city by public transport, which does not arrive on time because it is stuck in traffic jams.

Victor Chironda argues that due to the destroyed sidewalks, Chisinau dwellers give up looking for the public transport and plead for private transport. It is difficult to reach the station, which is also destroyed, not to mention the public transport people are waiting for. Therefore, the main priority of the City Hall will be the creation of lanes dedicated to public transport and sidewalks. "Both measures aim to reduce traffic congestion and ensure efficient mobility in the city," said the candidate.

The candidate acknowledges that the reforms he wants to initiate, as general mayor of the capital, are unpopular, but necessary. "Public transport and pedestrian infrastructure are the two elements that can get Chisinau out of the traffic chaos. We know and can do these things,” said Victor Chironda.

Victor Chironda contends that he will initiate the process of building lanes dedicated to public transport even from the first month of activity, and in at least one year they will already exist on the main crowded streets of Chisinau

Elena Nofit, a member of the candidate's team, has said that the practice of drivers to park their cars on sidewalks creates difficulties for pedestrians. She has also mentioned that the sidewalks in Chisinau have never been repaired since they were built.

Andrei Tudos, who is also a member of the candidate's team, has specified that authorities’ practice to widen the streets in order to cope with the large flow of cars is not the right one. It is necessary to motivate drivers to request public transport. According to Andrei Tudos, the city of Chisinau needs a lane dedicated to public transport, so that the residents of the capital traveling by public transport could avoid traffic jams.

Victor Chironda will be number six in the ballot. "New Force" Social-Political Movement, on the platform of which he is running, is led by former defence minister Valeriu Pleşca.
