Victor Chironda is the candidate of the Party “Dignity and Truth” Platform (PPDA) for the mayoralty of Chisinau. The decision was announced by the party’s leader Dinu Plângău in a news conference on Monday, IPN reports.
Dinu Plângău said that ex-deputy mayor of Chisinau Victor Chironda is a renowned expert in urban development with relevant academic experience. “Together with Victor Chironda, the PPDA’s candidate for the mayoralty of the capital city, we undertake to carry out a constructive, positive campaign aimed at concrete solutions. We will have only well-substantiated, realistic and justified electoral promises. Also, Chisinau and its suburbs need a long-term strategic view, a plan for modernizing the capital city. Namely this major aspect can be the main campaign theme,” stated the party’s leader.
Dinu Plângău noted that for the local mayoral elections, the team aimed to create a larger political and electoral construct around the PPDA, both for the Chisinau Municipal Council and in order to identify a candidate with real chances for the post of mayor general. “In February 2023, we initiated a process to consult a number of democratic and pro-European extraparliamentary parties, representatives of civil society, of the community of experts so as to identify a credible alternative. As a modern party, we realize that we need to also engage people from outside parties in politics. This became possible following the improvement of the moral climate inside our party. We can now publicly say that this task was mainly achieved. After a series of discussions and consultations, we are glad to announce that we identified the most suitable candidate for mayor general of the capital city,” stated Dinu Plângău.
The PPDA will run in the local elections under its own political brand and will be open to all those who want to change things in the local public administration. “The goal is for the PPDA to become a pole of attraction for all the pro-European extraparliamentary forces,” said the politician.
Victor Chironda noted that he wants to reform the Chisinau City Hall and to prove that the city can develop in a way that will make life more comfortable and full of opportunities for businesses, families with children and young people who want opportunities and conditions at home. “I studied for a master’s decree in urban development and urban planning in Europe. I worked for commercial organizations, in civil society and as the deputy mayor of the municipality of Chisinau. I gained experience and proved that I can change things to the better,” said the PPPDA’s candidate for mayor of the capital city.
