Former deputy mayor of Chisinau Victor Chironda said the examination of the lawsuit concerning his dismissal is being illegally delayed. According to him, the court realizes that he was dismissed in breach of the labor legislation and avoids passing its judgment. The goal is to maximally extend the trial, while he was dismissed so that the authorization process in the building sector could be brought under control.

In a news conference at IPN, Victor Chironda said that he was proposed for deputy mayor by mayor Ion Ceban and he was the only one of the four deputy mayors who was confirmed to the post  by the votes of most of the councilors, being supported by the councilors of PSRM, PPPDA and PAS and by others.

According to the former deputy mayor, one of his priorities as deputy mayor was to reform and organize the building authorization system. The chaos related to the illegal constructions could have been stopped only by reorganizing the General Architecture, Urbanism and Land Relations Division and by clearing this of corrupt people. But the then chief architect vehemently opposed the proposed changes, while mayor Ion Ceban tacitly consented and didn’t react to the approaches and reports by which he informed about the blocking of the reorganization process and the risks of corruption in the process of issuing permissive documents.

He was later dismissed so that a number of the illegal schemes could be kept and because he refused to sign multiple illegal permissive documents and also because he revealed the violations committed by functionaries of the City Hall, who kept their posts and weren’t even subject to internal inquiries.

Victor Chironda called on the President, Parliament Speaker, Prime Minister, minister of justice and the prosecutor general to examine this case and not to allow the corrupt system to continue its abuses against him and against the citizens of Chisinau. He expressed his conviction that his statements will be soon confirmed by other persons and by business entities that are forced to erect by being promised that they will get building permits.

Victor Chironda also voiced hope that the court will examine his challenge to the dismissal order and will pass judgment as soon as possible.
