Victims of political repression to receive compensations

The Government has allocated 16 million lei for reimbursing the value of the property lost by the rehabilitated victims of political repression. The compensations will be released under decisions made by special commissions, Info-Prim Neo reports. Under the legislation, the compensations should be paid from the local budgets, but the local authorities notified the Ministry of Finance that they do not have the necessary financial resources. The 16 million lei will be allotted to 25 districts and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia for paying compensations for 2008-2010 and the first tranche for 2011. A number of 253 persons will receive compensations.
