Viaduct opens two weeks earlier than planned

The repair works of the bridge connecting the districts Centru and Botanica of the capital will be finished two weeks earlier than it was scheduled. The deputy head of the General Public Transport and Communications Department, Alexei Varlan, announced that the bridge will be opened on August , and not on August 15, as it was planned before. According to him, the reconstruction term of the second part of the bridge will be shorter due to favorable weather allowing the asphalt to harden quicker. Starting June 1 till August 1, those 3 enterprises involved in reconstruction, „Poduri Prim”, SA „Edilitate” and „Exdrupo” Department, make consolidation works of the resistance structure of those 3 bridges composing the viaduct, asphalting and other hydro-isolation works. Thus, the whole road pavement is rebuilt, metallic bars being replaced with performing ones of rubber and metal, which will consolidate the bridge, , Varlan mentioned. In the first phase of works, made in 2005, there were made works about 12,4 million lei, 12,400 square meters of pavement were changed, 19 dilatation bars of 269 meters of 3 bridges were changed. At the same time, 990 meters of transport protection bars were changed, and 884 meters of parapet were repaired.
