Veterinary practice could be regulated by law. The standing parliamentary commissions on July 27 examined a bill to this effect. This provides that veterinary practice will not be entrepreneurial activity, IPN reports.
Under the bill, the veterinarian’s area of activity will include veterinary medicine, food safety, vet laboratory diagnostics, supervision of quality of fodder and other feedstuff intended for animals, identification, registration and reproduction of animals. The vet will prescribe, issue, sell and manage veterinary pharmaceutical products.
A College of Veterinary Doctors will be created to monitor the fundamental aspects of the sanitary-veterinary activities and to coordinate the continuous professional formation of specialists.
The Professional Veterinarian’s Day could be instituted in Moldova, with observance on the last Saturday of April. Also, disciplinary penalties will be imposed on vets.
The draft law is to be adopted by Parliament.
