War veterans protested on Thursday in front of the Parliament Building. They requested the country’s administration to draw attention to their problems and to re-include a number of concessions in the law on war veterans, IPN reports.

Anatolie Bugai, head of the Drochia local veterans’ movement, said the participants in the Nistru armed conflict came to give a last signal to the authorities. He reminded that the veterans sincerely fought in the 1992 war and accused the current government of robbing them: “If you still want to be in power, respect the war veterans and the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.”

Two days ago, in a news conference hosted by IPN, the veterans submitted a statement whereby they ask the authorities to include in bill No. 194 the concessions that were excluded, namely: free travel by all urban means of passenger transport and by rail or road transport on suburban routes, free spa treatment tickets. The veterans also requested to include in the law the people with severe disabilities who are entitled to a companion once a year, to set allowances for war widows or their families in the amount of 50% of the national minimum salary, to unconditionally execute court decisions on the provision of housing to war veterans and invalids, and to adopt the action plan “Memory. Honor. Respect.”
