Two cars laden with electoral materials were pulled over by the police near the town of Grigorăuca in Sângerei district. The handouts, including mugs and notebooks bearing the insignia of the political bloc Victorie, had no origin documents, the police said.
The drivers, 38 and 46, failed to provide any papers for the goods. Moreover, one of them tried to convince the police the materials were meant for a funeral.
The cargo included about 1,500 mugs, 1,200 pens, 1,200 totes, about 500 notebooks, and packages with balloons, all branded “Victorie”. There were also pictures portraying a certain politician headlined “We will make it!”, copies of unidentified signatures, and a package that seemed to contain legal documents of the Șansă party and Victorie bloc.
A report was drawn that will be submitted as evidence in an ongoing investigation for illegal party financing and money laundering, and the Central Electoral Commission will also be notified.
