The Government of Moldova does not want the U.S. company Kroll to continue the investigation into the banking frauds and also does not want a new agreement with the IMF, former minister of finance Veaceslav Negruta said in the talk show “Politics” on TV 7 channel, quoted by IPN.

Speaking about the investigation of the thefts committed in the banking system, the ex-minister said the politicians do not want the truth to be discovered because they are involved. “Some of the ruling politicians do not want the investigation to be continued so that no names and details are revealed. The final beneficiaries of the stolen billions could be in the country and these do not want to lose the property obtained unjustly. Therefore, the continuation of the investigation is delayed. The more time passes, the more difficult the investigation is. The second stage of the investigation can be performed by Kroll only if society and the foreign partners exert pressure,” stated Veaceslav Negruta.

He considers that the politicians do not want to sign a new financing agreement with the IMF. “The IMF asks reforms, but those from the government do not want to do them because this is not convenient for them. The fact that Dragutanu resigned while those from the IMF were on the way to Chisinau is not accidental. This political show was made to hamper the negotiation of a new memorandum. If they had wanted these negotiations, the first vice governor of the National Bank wouldn’t have resigned,” said the former minister.
