Neither Igor Dodon nor Vlad Batrîncea will run for the post of mayor general of the municipality of Chisinau. It will be a failure and a political death for both of them, said ex-Socialist MP Vasile Bolea. According to him, no matter who the Socialists’ candidate for mayor of Chisinau is, the party will obtain a modest score in this autumn’s elections, IPN reports.

The former member of the Party of Socialists noted that he didn’t want to leave the PSRM, but the party’s leadership decided to exclude him from the party without asking for his opinion. He hadn’t supported the decisions taken by the PSRM’s administration for a long period of time and therefore wanted to resign as a member of the National Council.

“I didn’t decide to leave Party of Socialists. I was away and they excluded me from the party without asking me something or looking for explanations, as they did every time. During a year, when the political executive, the collegial body of the party, didn’t understand why I was against particular decisions, they invited me to provide explanations. I explained to them, provided arguments why I was in favor or a decision or another. I didn’t intend to leave the party. I didn’t realize what made them do this. Later, I found an explanation. There are struggles inside the party. Probably someone thought that I was an opponent in these struggles. I just wanted to leave the party’s National Council and to remain an ordinary member,” MP Vasile Bolea stated in the talk show “Reflection Points” on Vocea Basarabiei channel.

He noted that Igor Dodon and Vlad Batrîncea are contending for the leadership of the PSRM. He believes the PSRM will have a modest score in the elections in Chisinau and none of the potential candidates for mayor general will win.

“The two who went out before the City Hall and announced that they will run in elections are struggling inside the party. I think none of them will run. This will be a failure and, inevitably, a political death for both of them. I consider the PSRM will be represented by someone else, but the party will anyway suffer. I don’t think this time the PSRM will gain a good electoral score in Chisinau,” stated the ex-Socialist.

Independent MP Vasile Bolea recently joined the Revival Party. Earlier, the members of this party said that they are for keeping the status of neutrality of the Republic of Moldova, for establishing the Moldovan language as the official language, for studying the history of Moldova and for granting a special official status to the Russian language.
