In Moldova, there is no ordinary political situation when there is liberal competition. “The question now is not who takes over, but if we will yet have democracy after the next elections?” civic activist Valeriu Pasa stated in the public debates “Starting position of political parties and potential independent candidates on alternative pro-European platform before the electoral year”, which was staged by IPN News Agency.
Speaking about the electoral bloc formed by the PAS and PPPDA, Valeriu Pasa said this is a rather interesting and practical idea, especially because it is based on the logic that the resources should be not dispersed. But he expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that the three opposition parties decided to form a bloc only in a year of the presidential elections at a time when the goal of the opposition is to seize power. “A series of questions appear: Why two parties and not three? Why did they need a year for things that were evident a year ago?” he stated.
The civic activist also referred to the state institutions that do not inspire the people with confidence as to economic stabilization at a time when the demographic problem is a major problem of Moldova. The country risks remaining without people, while official figures show that about 167,000 Moldovans settled in Italy alone. These include 20,000 children or the equivalent of 300 schools that were closed in Moldova in the recent past.
“Even if effort is made to solve the problem through public policies, Moldova risks remaining without people. We can witness a demographic collapse and in five years there will be no people who would work and pay taxes for salaries and pensions. That’s why ‘who will seize power for the next four years’ is not the main issue now,” stated Valeriu Pasa.
In the same connection, the civic activist noted that the results of parties after the parliamentary elections are based on strategies and technologies. In the last elections, the dirty political technologies played a decisive role. The juridical control was used to eliminate “Our Party” from the race. There was introduced a clone party that left the Party of Communists without at least seven seats through dirty technologies that modified the election outcome. In the case of the system of single-member constituencies, the impact of these policies and techniques will increase for several times.
“The foreign or geopolitical orientation has always determined the division of the political groups in Moldova, even if it was manipulation in an absolute majority proportion. Those who are in power declared themselves European, but did everything, but not integration into the European Union, while those who support the pro-Russian course did nothing. In this situation, the independent candidates will be used to gain certain votes. That’s why the parties should very clearly explain the external orientation and actions at the foreign level,” said Valeriu Pasa.
He added that the Eurasian geopolitical orientation is 80% based on lie and manipulation through the media. “It is a myth fueled by the Russian media and the same message is passed on by the local media and is maintained by the governments that say they are pro-European. A large part of what comes from abroad is everything else, but not journalism. By this disseminated information, the division of society by geopolitical criteria is maintained artificially. Those who speak about the pro-European course also fuel society with the myth about the entry into the EU,” stated the activist.
The public debate “Starting position of political parties and potential independent candidates on alternative pro-European platform before the electoral year” is the 81st installment of the series of debates “Developing political culture by public debates” that are organized with support from the Hanns Seidel Foundation of Germany.
