Victor Boboc, the father of the young man who died during the April 7 protests, said the events that happened in the Great National Assembly Square remain a mystery. Though he knows what happened to his son on the night of April 7, 2009, the man considers the whole truth about those events will not come out soon. Contacted by IPN, Victor Boboc said that if there had been will, the persons to blame for the death of his son Valeriu would have been held accountable.

The man noted that the pain of the loss of his son will never leave him. He lives with hope that the truth will yet emerge. Persons from the current government could have been involved in the April 2009 events. Therefore, the authorities prefer not to speak about this. “It seems that this topic avoided. There are probably reasons for this. There is a mystery that can yet be solved,” said Victor Boboc.

According to Valeriu Boboc’s father, not only his son lost his life on the night of April 7, 2009. Three more young people died then. Also, several months after those events, two more persons died because of the torture to which they were subject on April 7, 2009. These cases have been yet hushed up.

Victor Boboc said that after the events of April 2009 Moldova followed a correct direction, towards European integration, but things changed afterward. “Then, by April 7, the young people changed Moldova’s course towards European development. There are problems indeed. The people became poorer, but this is due to the government that misacted and didn’t do reforms appropriately. A good way for Moldova was then opened and the Communist regime was removed. We can follow only one direction,” he stated, voicing hope that the path of European integration will be maintained in Moldova.
