USAID intends to organize in Chisinau an intensive seminar for 70 young political leaders from East Europe

USAID intends to sponsor the organization in Chisinau of an intensive seminar for 70 young political leaders from East Europe and Eurasia. Brock D. Bierman, head of the USAID office for Europe and Eurasia announced about this during a press conference that took place on Friday the 30th of June.
According to Bierman, the event is planned for the last week of September, this year, and it will be attended by representatives from 17 countries, 4 from each country, that will represent the variety of political parties from the countries from the region, as well as by USA representatives.
The quoted source said that the Republic of Moldova was chosen as host of this event due to the fact that it is situated at crossroads in this region and because it is a “country famous for the hospitality and warmth with which it receives guests”.
The American official mentioned that the goal of the seminar is to create opportunities for the young political leaders to discuss about common problems and experience exchange, as well as to identify a support for further communication between them.
The deputy minister of Education and Youth, Viorelia Moldovan Batranac, present at the conference, said that this is the first event of such political youth importance in the Republic of Moldova, and it has a great importance for promoting and consolidating the commitment of the youth from the Republic, towards the democratic values, as well as for the intensification of the collaboration and partnership relations between the young political leaders from the region.
According to USAID, the seminar is implemented with the Republican International Institute (RIP), the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI), and the participants to this seminar will be selected by specialized staff in the field from these three institutions.
At the conference there also participated the ambassador Rudolf V. Perina, Charge d’Affaires of the USA Embassy in Chisinau, Michael H Ghetto, Country Head of the NDI representation in the Republic of Moldova and Moldovan political parties’ representatives.
