A press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from Chisinau stated that the international community within the OSCE Resident Council has firmly rejected the farce organized by the Tiraspol separatist regime on September 17 entitled as “referendum”. The EU and the countries that are about to join the Union, as well as USA, GUAM member countries, the current Presidency of OSCE have once again confirmed their position that both the “referendum” and its results cannot be recognized under any form. EU has pointed out that the so-called referendum is violating the internationally recognized territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, and the situation in the Transnistrian region is not a proper one for people to express their will. USA mentioned that the Transnistrian region is part of the Republic of Moldova, and the referendum can only be seen as an attempt to destabilize the regional situation. Washington reminded the Russian Federation that it should evacuate all troops and weapons from the territory of the Republic of Moldova, according to the decision of the OSCE summit from Istanbul in 1999. USA requested the Government of Russia to publicly announce that Moscow will not recognize the independence and will not support the Transnistrian region to join Russia. The GUAM member countries blamed the unilateral actions of the Tiraspol separatist regime, and mentioned that the so-called referendum is against international norms and standards and will not be recognized. The Republic of Moldova informed the OSCE community of the Declaration of the Chisinau Government from September 18 regarding the so-called Transnistrian referendum, which stated that the actions of the criminal Tiraspol regime seek to hamper the negotiation process and want to keep the status-quo in the region.
