Urban Bus Company did not receive extra funds from Budget

The Urban Bus Company in Chisinau did not receive from the Budget 2.5 mln lei requested from the Chisinau Municipal Council. The councillors rejected a draft decision in this respect on Tuesday December. The allocation of financial means was not approved for the reason that two factions had abstained from voting. The councillors on the part of “Moldova Noastra” Alliance and Social Action Bloc justified their option by the fact that a certain number of their suggestions were not accepted, and the notifications of the specialized commissions were not formulated. Councillor Mihai Roscovan told the session that this summer CMC has approved the Strategy for developing the public transport in Chisinau, which provided for working out a feasibility study on privatisation of the Urban Bus Company and requested information about what actions were taken in this respect. As Roscovan states, it is about the allocation of large sums to an insolvent municipal enterprise, as it needs a plan of reorganisation. The Urban Bus Company needed finances to repay the debts to the fuel suppliers and debts for paying salaries for October and November. In late November, Chisinau Municipal Council voted a decision on taking a loan by UBC from “Moldova-Agroindbanc”. The Bank has rejected the Council’s decision.
