A unified center for the collection of goods for Ukrainian refugees starts work on the territory of Moldova-Film Studio located at 61 Hâncești St as from March 22, IPN reports, with reference to the Government’s secretary general Dumitru Udrea.
The official told a news conference that the decision to close the collection centers opened at the Technical University of Moldova and at the Palace of Railways Workers was taken due to the substantial reduction in the quantity of goods brought by the population.
Dumitru Udrea said that the donations of goods, such as blankets, tents, hygiene products and other goods intended for the Ukrainian refugees, so far total about €4.8 million. The aid is managed by the Government.
Of the €4.8 million, over €4 million came through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism and was distributed by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations to hotspot centers set up on the border. Another €478,000 and essential goods were managed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, while over €227,000, medicines and medical devices – by the Ministry of Health.
There are over 101,000 Ukrainian refugees in Moldova at present and almost half of them are children. The figure is lower compared with last weekend.
