Ungheni Hospital purchases new medical equipment with Japanese assistance

The Ungheni District Hospital received grant assistance of US$119,575 from the Government of Japan. The money was used to purchase a new and efficient fibergastroscope and a fibercolonoscope to ensure good quality health checks and a new and modern ultrasound diagnosis system to strengthen the institution’s diagnosis capacity, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the Embassy of Japan in Moldova, based in Kiev, on August 26 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Moldova Toichi Sakata will present the catalogue of the new medical equipment to the director of the Ungheni District Hospital.

This project became the 18th project implemented in the Republic of Moldova under Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (KUSANONE) scheme.

This grant assistance is a part of Japan’s Official Development Assistance to the Republic of Moldova. The assistance provided to the Republic of Moldova on a bilateral basis so far came to approximately US$131 million.
