Moldova needs clear objectives in the fight against corruption if it wants clear results. Otherwise, it will be hard to assess the achieved results, said foreign experts who shared their countries’ experience in fighting corruption with civil society in Chisinau. The specialists from Riga and Prague presented examples of successful practices that could be implemented in Moldova.
The event was staged within a workshop entitled “Multiplication abilities – good anticorruption practices in Latvia and the Czech Republic” that was organized by the Institute for European Politics and Reforms, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Institute.
Expert of the Riga Center for Public Policy “Providus” Valts Kalnins said that Latvia implemented public policies aimed at fighting corruption. “To efficiently fight corruption, we need efficient goals. The unclear objectives in this fight produce indistinct results,” he stated.
International anticorruption and good governance consultant Inese Voika spoke about the measures taken in Latvia to fight oligarchy. “We managed to put pressure on the politicians and these adopted the law on party funding. Now we can access a website where there is information about all the donations and those who fund parties,” she stated.
The discussions involved representatives of Moldovan civil society and members of youth organizations. During the event the participants debated how these corruption fighting practices can be implemented in Moldova.
