About 350 families of Ukrainian refugees in Moldova will receive 1,500 lei voucher cards for food and personal hygiene products, for three consecutive months, as part of a project implemented by Caritas Czech Republic and funded by Caritas Luxembourg.
The organization said the project will afford refugees the dignity of choice in fulfilling their basic necessities and will help them bring back the sentiment of normalcy in their lives.
Adrian Petcu, communication assistant at Caritas Czech Republic, told IPN that 350 families will receive voucher cards at the first stage of the project, and later more people will benefit from such aid. Families with two or more children, pregnant women, lonely people, pensioners unable to work, people with disabilities or chronic conditions will receive cards. Questionnaires are being run to assess the needs of Ukrainian refugees.
At the initial stage of the project, voucher cards will be distributed to 350 families of Ukrainian refugees hosted in the districts of Criuleni, Călăraşi, Comrat, Ceadâr-Lunga, and Vulcănești. Individuals eligible for voucher cards can request additional information about the distribution of cards from the respective local authorities.
The activity is part of the project “Ensuring food and hygiene security for vulnerable refugees from Ukraine”, implemented by Caritas Czech Republic, with the support of Caritas Luxembourg.
