The national U-17 football team of Moldova suffered a defeat in the first match of the qualifying round of the 2018 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, IPN reports.

Moldova was beaten by Slovakia 0-2 owing to the goals scored in the first half by Burian and Bernat. In the other match of Group 8, Bosnia and Herzegovina drew with Macedonia 0-0. On October 5, Moldova plays against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

For this tournament, coach Sergiu Kirlov summoned the following players: Silviu Shmalenia, Mihail Cioban - goalkeepers; Artiom Gabaret, Adrian-Ilie Popa, Daniel Dumbravanu, Nichita Morpan, Alexandru Vacarciuc, Daniel Zaporojan, Maxim Arpentin – fullbacks; Eugen Gliga, Dan Lisu, Nichita Covali, Valentin Tiganescu, Gheorghe Spinu, Ion Gurulea, Valeriu Gaiu, Alexandru Graur, Maxim Bairamov – halfbacks; Nichita Murovanui, Iurie Stanchev – strikers.
