Two girls aged 20 and 21 were killed when they were struck by a Mercedes car on Dacia Blvd in Botanica district of Chisinau in the afternoon of November 22. One of the girls died on the spot owing to the serious injuries she sustained, while the other one died shortly after being hospitalized, IPN reports.
In the ordinary meeting of officials of Chisinau services and subdivisions on November 23, deputy head of the Chisinau Police Division Silviu Musuc said the 26-year-old driver was placed under arrest for 72 hours initially. All the circumstances are yet to be found out. According to the preliminary investigations, the young women were jaywalking.
The driver faces up to ten years in jail for violation of the road safety rules the resulted in death.
