The two-year-old child from Ungheni, who a week ago fell from the sixth floor into an elevator shaft, came out of coma. Contacted by IPN for details, the spokesman of the Mother and Child Institute Maxim Cazacu said that there are positive dynamics in the boy’s state.

“He is no longer in a coma, but still the condition remains serious. He is under medical supervision in the Intensive Care Unit,” said Maxim Cazacu.

At the same time, the Ungheni mayor’s office said that the intervention group continues the works to bring in order the elevators in the residential buildings of the town. In the last two days, the faults were removed and around 25 elevators were restarted. “There are 22 elevators left to be repaired and some of them have more serious problems. Maximum efforts are being made to restart them as soon as possible,” noted the municipality.

The case occurred on September 11 in a residential block in Ungheni. Preliminarily, it was established that the mother put the stroller between the doors to hold the elevator and returned to get a bag. At that point, she heard a noise. The boy fell into the shaft when the elevator went up to one of the upper floors. The child was found by rescuers in a conscious state, but doctors put him in a drug-induced coma.
