Two-year-old alive after falling from fifth floor

A girl aged two from Ungheni remained alive after falling from the fifth floor of an apartment building. The child was at home with her parents, but was left alone in the room with the open window.

According to the Guard Service of Ungheni, the girl fell on a metallic roof situated on the second floor. She was immediately rushed to the Ungheni District Hospital and is out of danger now, Ungheni Police Inspectorate press officer Cristina Vicol has told IPN.

Cristina Vicol also said that the girl is raised in a complete family with two more minors. The family wasn’t supervised by the authorities. After this incident, they will file a notice of a suspected case of child violence, neglect, exploitation or trafficking.

Update /2:21pm/ Contacted by IPN for details, Maria Buruiană, doctor of the Pediatric Section of the Ungheni District Hospital, said the girl was transferred from the Intensive Care Section to the Pediatric Section. Her state of health is now satisfactory.

The grownups should not leave the children in the room alone when they ventilate this. The children’s access to the balcony should be banned as this place is dangerous. The chairs, tables or wardrobes should not be placed near the window or at the balcony as the children can climb them and fall out.
