Two suppliers that serve customers in central, southern and northern Moldova asked the National Agency for Energy Regulation to increase the electricity charges, IPN reports.

In its application, “Premier Energy” requested to raise the charge to almost 3.24 lei lei/kWh without VAT, up from 2.64 lei/kWh at present, as from October 1. The company argued that the selling price of electrical energy from the central supplier shows the increase should be of 34%. It also made reference to the growing purchase prices of electricity and to the exchange rate.

“Furnizarea Energiei Electrice Nord” asked to increase the charge from 2.86 lei/kWh to 3.76 lei/kWh without VAT. The company invoked the same reasons for the requested increase.

The last time the National Agency for Energy Regulation approved higher electricity charges in June 2022.
