Two streets in Chisinau will be renamed based on a decision adopted by the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) in the evening of October 29. These are the pedestrian street Deordita, which will bear the name of Master Eugen Doga, and Cosmonautilor St, which will bear the name of late journalist Constantin Tanase, IPN reports.

The initiative was supported by 26 councilors of the pro-European alliance formed in the CMC, not yet by the other local councilors.

Eugen Doga is known as one of the most famous film composers in the post-Soviet area. He wrote music to over 200 films, including “Weeding at the palace”, “Alone in front of love”, “Ten winters for a summer”, “The Swindlers”, “The Gypsy camp”, “My tender and affectionate beast ”, and “Procust bed”.

The founder of the newspaper “Timpul”, later newspaperman and writer Constantin Tanase, died a year ago at the age of 65. During his lifetime, he edited the essay volumes “Aesop eye”, “Thieves of myths”, “Hole with lions”, etc. Constantin Tanase was awarded the medals “Civic Merit” and “Mihai Eminescu” and the Order of the Republic. In 2004, he was awarded the Order of the Star of Romania, in the rank of Commander, while in 2014 – the Order of Faithful Service, in the rank of Grand Officer. He is a laureate of the National Award in Journalism.
