Two large photovoltaic power stations will be built this year in the Republic of Moldova. According to the Ministry of Energy, they will increase the total installed power of renewable energy sources by a capacity of 90 MW. Both of the stations are to be put into operation by December this year, thus significantly contributing to the increase of the production capacity of electricity from renewable sources, IPN reports, with reference to a press release issued by the Ministry of Energy.

The parks will be built by two economic agents. They will generate over 100 million kWh annually, which will help cover a significant part of the electricity demand on the right bank of the Nistru, the authorities said.

After the solar farms are put into operation, the total installed capacity of renewable energy sources will increase to 670 MW in total, compared to 580 MW at the end of 2024.

The Ministry of Energy requested the Cabinet to approve two draft decisions to authorize the construction of photovoltaic power stations in Negureni village of Telenești district and in Rădeni village of Strășeni district. Under the Electricity Law, the construction of free market power stations with a capacity of more than 20 MW must be approved by the Cabinet.
