Since August 21 and to date, only three political parties have filed to the Central Electoral Commission to be registered as campaigners at the October 20 constitutional referendum. Two have been successfully registered, one campaigning for EU membership and the other one against.

The first application was from the Communist Party, which advocates for the “no” option. Later the CEC greenlighted the Ecologist Party to campaign for the “yes” option.

On Thursday, the Respect Moldova Movement also applied for registration as a referendum campaigner. If successful, the party will join the “yes” camp. The CEC has 3 days from the date of submission to decide on the registration.

Political parties and electoral blocs may seek registration to campaign at the referendum until September 20. Unregistered entities must stay out of the campaign and may not even promote boycotting.
