A prosecution officer of the Centru Police Inspectorate and a lieutenant-colonel of the Rascani Inspectorate were arrested on bribery charges. They face up to ten years in jail and fines of up to 100,000 lei. They may be also banned from holding particular posts and performing particular activities for a period of two to five years, IPN has learned from the National Anticorruption Center.

The police officer of the Centru Inspectorate is suspected of asking 15,000 lei from a person for not starting a criminal case against him. He was caught taking the last tranche of this sum. Earlier, the denouncer transmitted the other tranches under the control of the National Anticorruption Center.

The other police officer was arrested after he took €300 from the representative of an economic entity. According to the denouncer, the policeman asked the money in exchange for satisfying their request to find a car that belonged to the company.

The officers were put under arrest for 72 hours. Criminal cases over passive corruption were started against them.
