The Association of Formerly Deported Persons and Political Prisoners of Moldova, which has over 1,400 members, as well as the Association Promo-Lex condemn the crimes of the totalitarian Communist regime, committed in 1917-1989, including the arrests, deportations and starvations, artificially organized in 1946-1947, which caused death of thousands of persons. According to the statement of these organizations, over the past 8 years, the deported persons were discriminated compared to other categories of citizens who have suffered as result of that tragic period. These persons are deprived of privileges and allowances, the authorities making everything to mute the historical truth, as well as the lacks of the legislation. According to the Declaration, the state took many engagements regarding the re-establishment of the historical truth and the dignity of those deported, but until now a great part of these persons were not compensated for their confiscated possessions. According to the authors, the central bodies did not react to the petitions and letters of thousands of citizens. At the same time, until now, the executive and the legislative issued more than 20 amendments of the legal acts regarding deported persons, which excluded each other, and the parliament does not want to re-instate the rights of those who were deprived of them. In order to re-establish the historical truth and rehabilitate the dozen of thousands victims of the soviet regime, the members of those two associations require the authorities to declare the days of June 13, June 28 and July 6 as national mourning days, to change the art.12 of the Law RM of 8 December 1992 on rehabilitation of the victims of political repressions, setting an efficient compensation mechanism for the nationalized, confiscated or taken way property. At the same time, declaration’s authors demand the re-establishment of allowances and benefits of persons suffering as result of deportation, allocation of sufficient amounts for construction of a monument in memory of the victims of Stalinist repressions, in the Square of the Railway Station of Chisinau. The authors also demand the authorities of Chisinau to set talks with the Russian Federation regarding the compensation of deported persons. The Association of the Formerly Deported Persons and Political Prisoners and Public Association Promo Lex count on the support of the civil society and mass media in order to make public these requirements.
