The new ministers Vasile Ursu and Galina Balmos, recently appointed by presidential decrees as Minister of Transport and Road Administration and, respectively, Minister of Social Protection, Family and Child, have taken their oath of office at the Presidency, says a press release from the Presidency, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. President Vladimir Voronin has stressed the two Ministries’ great importance for Moldova’s development and major significance of the duties entrusted to Ursu and Balmos. Voronin underlined that the initiation of certain projects to build and rehabilitate the national road infrastructure will become possible this year for the first time in 15 years of independence. Their successful accomplishment depends largely on the organisation and managerial abilities of the new Minister of Transport and Road Administration. Vladimir Voronin also noted the difficulty and responsibility of the mission conferred the new Minister of Social Protection, Family and Child, especially as concerns the implementation of the national child protection reform. Previously, Vasile Ursu held the position of interim mayor of Chisinau municipality. Galina Balmos served as MP of the Communist Party.
