A criminal case against two persons accused of mercenary work, illegal keeping of munitions and organization of public disorder was sent to court. The suspects started to be investigated after they took part in the mass disorder staged in front of the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) on September 6, 2015, IPN reports.
According to the PGO, the two persons, in concert with other people, urged active violent disobedience of the legal requests of the police and pushed and hit police officers by using particular objects as weapons. These were arrested at the Chisinau International Airport at the beginning of last November, when they intended to leave Moldova.
The prosecutors established that in 2014 -2015 the two took part in battles in the self-proclaimed people’s republic of Donetsk in Ukraine as merchants. They are investigated under arrest. On January 11, the Rascani Court is to examine the prosecution’s request to extend the arrest warrant for 90 days.
Since 2014, five persons have been convicted of similar acts. Seven persons are now being investigated, while four are being tried.
On September 6, the party headed by former Communist politician Grigore Petrenco mounted a protest in front of the PGO. A number of persons, including the given politician, were arrested then.
