Lithuania and Serbia have joined the list of countries which accept Moldovan passports with extended validity, taking the total to 11.

The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration has notified the foreign authorities of its decision to extend the validity of passports and requested their recognition as valid travel documents. Passports with extended validity can be used only in states that have confirmed the recognition of the decision of the Moldovan authorities.

To date, confirmation of recognition has been received through diplomatic channels from Latvia, Israel, the Russian Federation, Armenia, Estonia, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Ireland, Ukraine, Lithuania and Serbia.

Efforts are being made to further extend the list, says the Ministry.

On June 1, the validity of Moldovan passports due to expire on 31 December 2022 has been extended until 30 June 2023.
