Two applicants registered as contenders in Hâncești elections

Ion Mereuță, of the Democratic Party, and Ștefan Gaţcan, of the Party of Socialists, were registered by the Electoral Council of the Hâncești Electoral Constituency No. 38 as candidates for the post of MP in the new parliamentary elections of March 15, the Council’s chairwoman Zinaida Dubchak stated for IPN.

According to her, eight applications to register initiative groups have bee received since January 15 until January 24. Meanwhile, two of these were registered and the required signatures in support of candidates were collected. As a result of verifications, the Electoral Council of the Hâncești Electoral Constituency decided to register Ion Mereuță and Ștefan Gaţcan.

Zinaida Dubchak said four initiative groups that were already registered are collecting signatures in support of the following candidates: Vitalie Balinski, of the Shor Party; Vlad Țurcanu, of the National Unity Party; Olesea Stamate, of the Party “Action and Solidarity”, and Dorin Chirtoacă, of the Union Electoral Bloc.

On January 24, which was the last day when submissions for registering initiative group were accepted, applications were submitted by Anatolie Postolachi, of the Liberal Democratic Party, and Grigore Cobzac, who intends to run independently. The Council has three days to take a decision over these.

The CEC set new parliamentary elections in Hâncești for March 15 after Democratic MP Alexandru Botnari renounced the seat won in this constituency in favor of the post of mayor of the municipality of Hâncești in the November 3 runoffs.
