Two people, accused of complicity in the murder of the Turkish citizen on July 10 at a terrace in Râșcani district of the capital city, were detained – one in the UK and the other one in the Republic of Moldova. The person who shot the victim managed to flee Moldova on the day of the murder and hasn’t been yet detained, IPN reports.

In a press conference, the head of the General Police Inspectorate Viorel Cernăuțeanu said that on June 15, two foreign citizens entered Moldova through the Chisinau International Airport. One of them was the killer. They arrived by a Larnaca-Chisinau flight and were met by a Moldovan woman, who acted as an accomplice, being also the concubine of the first accomplice. This, together with the killer, visited previously Moldova and were traced at shooting ranges in Chisinau.

The crime was planned in detail, with the rental of an apartment near the terrace where the victim was shot, but also of a car. After planning the assassination, the first accomplice flied to Istanbul on July 3. On July 7, another accomplice came to the Republic of Moldova. He arrived in Romania from Germany and in Iasi rented a car by which he came to Chisinau, where he was met by the killer. The two were spotted together in the following days, including in the apartment near the crime scene.

On July 10, at 11:31 a.m., the murder was committed. Subsequently, the accomplice who came from Germany left Moldova through the Leușeni customs post. In Iasi, he returned the rented car and left Romania. On the same day, the killer managed to leave for Iasi through the Sculeni customs post by a minibus taken from the North Bus Station. In the evening, he flied from the airport in Iasi to Bergamo in Italy.

Viorel Cernăuțeanu said that the killer used the identity data of another citizen. It was found that in 2012 he threatened with revenge the Turkish man who was shot in Chisinau, as he killed his brother.

The acting head of the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases Victor Furtună told the same news conference that no details were provided so far so as not to affect the progress of investigations. On August 30, the first accomplice was detained in the UK and the authorities are going to see if extradition is possible. On September 2, searches were carried out in the Republic of Moldova at the home and in the car of the third accomplice. The person was detained for 72 hours and is expected to be remanded in custody.
